The City of Riverside was named because of its location beside the Santa Ana River. One of the largest cities in Inland CA. As of the 2010 census the population was registered as 303,871. One of the 2 remaining trees died and then the other was moved to where it now still stands at the Intersection of Magnolia and Arlington. Along with a stone honoring Eliza Tibbets. The Citrus trees did not do well in Florida but they did thrive in the California climate. The discovery of the Brazilian Navel Orange established the citrus industry. There are many historic landmarks in Riverside. The Mission Inn, The Riverside Historic Court House, Riverside Fox Theater. The Dixie Corporation now closed was once located in Riverside. Which is still home to the worlds largest paper cup, located on Iowa St. Other places of interest are Box Springs Mountain, Evans Hill, Tecolote Hill and Mount Rubidoux. There are a few festivals that take place in the downtown area.
The Riverside Dickens Festival, The Riverside Air Show, The Legends of Riverside Film Festival, Riverside Ballet Ghost Walk, The Riverside Festival of Lights and during Thanksgiving The Festival of trees.
